Photography and Videography; Content that inspires

We have all heard of the phase; a picture is worth a thousand words.  And for me personally, I feel that to be true.

A photograph is more than just an image of a yogi in an asana.  A photograph of a retreat or event is more than just an image of the location where it was taken.  A photograph provides you with a narrative to tell you a story.  It paints you picture of the person or event to provide you with a visual representation of who they are, where they are from and what it is they are doing.  The purpose is to help and guide you, and to engage you, so that you can feel and enjoy that experience too.  A photograph takes you on a journey.

But if a photograph is worth a thousand words, then where does that leave video?  According to a study by James McQuivey he states;

“If a picture is worth a thousand words; a video has to be worth at least 1.8million”.

So how did he come to this conclusion?  Well, that 1.8million is based on the following calculation;

1 picture = 1,000 words
>Video shoots at 30fps (24fps in the UK!)

1 second video = 30,000 words

30,000 words x 60 seconds (Standard duration of a video promo!)

Video = 1.8million words!

A photograph can grip the viewers attention but for only a short period of time, a video maintains that grip, takes the viewer beyond the initial attraction, into further engagement and on a journey into your world that can leave a long lasting impression.

Video is a powerful tool that will engage your audience, increase your following and expand your business to a wider community and, has the potential to increase your revenue.

And the numbers speak for themselves*…

There are 2.8billion users on YouTube worldwide.

Over 100 countries have access to YouTube

One billion hours watched daily

More than 70% of YouTube videos are watched on mobile devices.

The number of channels earning five figures per year on YouTube grew more than 50% y/y.

We all own a smartphone and we can all record a quick video and post it on social media within seconds (well depending on your wi-fi it may take a little longer!) but that video is out there.  That video is on your Facebook page, your Instagram feed and story (and IGTV if you have it) and that video is reaching a plethora of followers.  But, What is your video saying? and How is it saying it?  Is it engaging your followers? Or are they switching off? And more importantly; Does your video, if you are already putting video out there yourself, have the creativity and high production added value that it deserves and what viewers come to expect?

Anyone can take a photograph and shoot a video but it’s what the eyes see that’s the key to creativity. As for Stock imagery, in my opinion, it is impersonal, lacks identity and doesn’t reflect your unique individuality. Bespoke photography and dynamic video that is produced solely for you, brings balance and a sense of authenticity.

A video should be simple but effective and it should tell your story in a way that your followers will be interested in your service, your brand; interested in you, and will want to come back for more.

With my background in TV production where I have worked on high profile content such as The Gadget Show, Gardeners’ World Live and Top Gear and in Abu Dhabi on Dirhami which, was a primetime programme produced for Abu Dhabi Media in the UAE, I have the experience that can help you produce creative video content that can extend you and your brand beyond the realms of your studio space.

With creative content that inspires, content that is created professionally and bespoke for you, my aim is to produce content that will connect you to your customers personanlly, provide you with an identity and promote you and your brand naturally and authentically. With Sukhino Captures, you’re not investing in exceptional photography & videography, you’re investing in your future.
